The 2006 State Championship was a big success...
2006 State Team, Click on the picture to see a larger versionThe Michigan BASS Federation Nation State Championship was held August 24-26, 2006 out of Bay City from Veteran’s Park. We had 106 anglers entries into the tournament, but due to drops or no shows 47 boats fished the two day event. The weather played major factor this year. Both days the inner bay was placed off limits due to the high winds. The river was the only open waters the anglers could fish. Reports from the Coast Guard had small craft warning up with waves in the outer bay at over 10 feet and 7 footers from Au Gres to Tawas area. Many anglers spoke of huge limits of smallmouth they had taken in practice with many 6 Lb. plus fish being caught. Though the fishing was slow in the river many of anglers adjusted to the conditions and brought in limits of fish. The tournament this year was a huge success. From the sign-in at The Lumber Baron’s Grill and Pub to the final weighing of the last fish all went smoothly. The Banquet was the best. The Food was outstanding. The meeting and the Pairings were completed in record time. At the end of day one the anglers were again treated to a great Bar B-Q . We know for sure no one left hungry. Thanks to the Krazysiaks House Restaurant. Best pies I ever tasted.
